DUAL SPORT RIDE - North Arkansas
Join us for a great weekend of dual sport riding.  New routes. New challenges.  We will make Clarksville our center of operations for the weekend.  Here is the tentative schedule:
  • Friday:  Ride from Dallas to Clarksville through some nice mountain road twisties
  • Saturday:  All day off-road riding around some of the best dual sport routes in Northern Arkansas
  • Sunday:  Off road riding back to Mena and then back to Dallas.

Members can reserve the Club House for private events at anytime.

Trips and Tours

Upcoming trips and tours organized for members by members.  These trips are organized by the Trip Planning Committee.  Participants pay their own costs (e.g., gasoline, hotels, food, etc.) and everybody shares equally on any shared costs (e.g., chase vehicle and driver, etc.) agreed by the group.

This is the mother of all trips - from Frankfurt, Germany, all the way across Asia to Vladivostok, Russia, and South Korea.  The trip will start in Frankfurt, Germany and go through Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan, Kazakhstan, Rusia, Mongolia, and South Korea.

Level of Difficulty (1-Low, 5-High):  5

Germany and Eastern Europe    April 29-May 15, 2012

This trip will start in Frankfurt, Germany, and go through almost every country in Eastern Europe - Italy, Dolomites, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania returning through the great cities of Vienna, Prague, and Budapest.

ARKANSAS - Dual Sport Fall Colors Ride     October 21-23, 2011

THE RIDE WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

This is amazing weekend of dual sport riding in Arkansas during the changing of the leaves in Arkansas.   We have identified the best routes through national forests, parks, trails, etc. to experience this annual event at its best.

We will leave early on Friday morning (October 21, 2011) and trailer our bikes to Talihina, OK.  We will then ride to hot Springs, AR.  We will have 2 full days of riding (Saturday and Sunday).

We will stay at the Staybridge Suites in Hot Springs, AR, and make it our riding center so we can come back to a nice hot tub at the end of the day.

(Non-Member Fee:  $150)

 BRAZIL - The East Coast    June 5-21, 2011

We will visit some of Brazil’s most stunning colonial towns, places such as Ouro Preto, built in the Serra do Espinhaco range, and Tiradentes. We will visit seaside villages, such as Buzios, and the spa town of Caxambu. The ride encompasses alpine regions with cobblestone villages built amongst the hills, visiting Paraty and riding one of the worlds finest coastal rides, the Costa Verde (Emerald Coast), before returning to Rio de Janeiro.  We will start and end in Rio de Janeiro - the ride will also include some (optional) dual sport riding to some very remote areas.

ARKANSAS - Dual Sport Ride Around Mena     April 1-4, 2011

THE RIDE WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

This is amazing weekend of dual sport riding in Arkansas we have been talking about for so long.
We have carefully selected routes that have been tested over the years as the most scenic and beautiful dual-sport routes in AR.

We will leave early on Friday morning (April1, 2011) and trailer our bikes to Mena, AR.  We will have 2 full days of riding (Saturday and Sunday) and back to Dallas on Monday morning.

We will stay at the historical Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge (http://www.queenwilhelmina.com/) at the top of the mountain and make Mena, AR our riding center.
I have secured the following rooms for all three nights:
- 3 rooms with two double beds ($80/night)
- 1 room with a kink size bed ($80/night)
- 2 rooms with queen size beds ($70/night)

We will do a little riding Friday afternoon to get ready for two full days of dual sport riding in the woods.

GUATEMALA - The Highlands    July 14 - 18, 2010

This will be an amazing trip to the best that Guatemala has to offer - volcanoes, lakes, colonial cities, etc.  We will fly from Dallas to Guatemala on Wednesday, July 14, spend the night in Guatemala City, pick up our BMW and Yamaha bikes on Thursday and head for the mountains for 3 amazing days or riding.  We will be joined by other riders from Guatemala that know were to go and what to do.

This is a weekend trip leaving Motopia on Friday morning.  We will stay in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and make this our touring center for the weekend.  Check out our Members Forum for more details on lodging, routes, preparation, who is going, etc.

Texas Hill Country Weekend    Mar 5 - 7, 2010    *  *  *  COMPLETED  *  *  *

This is a weekend trip leaving Motopia on Friday morning.  We will make Kerrville our touring center. On Saturday we will make a couple of long loops on the best roads the Hill Country has to offer.  On Sunday we will do a small loop and head back to Dallas.

Baja 1000 Trip    Jan 26 - Jan 31, 2010   *  *  *  COMPLETED  *  *  *

A one-week trip to explore the famous Baja 1000 route.  We will ride all 1,000 miles from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas.

The highlight of this trip is that we will be there right in the middle of whale season.  On of the days, we will be crossing the bikes on fishermen's boats to Isla Magdalena - an uninhabited island on the Pacific Side - ride about 50 km on the beach during low tide (the only way to ride there) to the fishermen's camp where we will be able to maybe swim with the whales!

A 3-day trip from Dallas to the best roads in Arkansas.  This time we will make Fayetteville our touring center.

2009 Annual Excursion - Iceland      Aug 21 - 30, 2009     *  *  *  COMPLETED  *  *  *

A weeklong dual-sport trip exploring this amazing island.  We will ride BMW F650GS. Total cost is $3,400 plus airfare. This includes bike rental, gasoline, hotels, and meals.

Mexican West Coast, Mexico      Jan 26 - Feb 3, 2009   * * * * COMPLETED  * * *

A 7-day trip from Dallas to Mexico City and then over the mountains to the Pacific. Dallas, San Antonio, Laredo, Monterrey, Saltillo, Real de XIV, San Luis Potosi, Mexico City, Valle de Bravo, Ixtapa, Manzanillo, Colima, Guadalajara, Zacatecas, Laredo, Dallas.

Copper Canyon, Mexico      October 4-11, 2008  * * * * COMPLETED  * * *
 
An 8-day trip from Dallas to the border at Presidio and on to Chihuahua, Mexico's biggest State and home to Copper Canyon.  Copper Canyon is four times larger than the grand canyon and is also home to the Tarahumara Indians.  This is a great trip for dual sport bikes as we will not only do great twisties on paved roads in the Sierra Madre Mountains but also venture to the bottom of the canyon on dirt switchbacks with breathtaking views.
